MEET DANNY

After dedicating over 34 years to law enforcement (32 with the Texas Department of Public Safety, including 22 years as a supervisor, and 2 with the Kleberg County Sheriff's Office as Chief Deputy), I am pleased to announce my candidacy for the position of Sheriff of Kleberg County.

My decision to seek the office of sheriff was driven by the overwhelming encouragement I received from the community, fellow law enforcement professionals, and emergency services personnel. It is clear that the citizens of Kleberg County are in need of a Sheriff who embodies leadership, integrity, experience, and transparency. These values serve as the cornerstone of my campaign.

Experience and Leadership

Throughout my tenure with DPS, I was extensively involved in all facets of traffic law enforcement. Starting as a highway patrol trooper, I progressed to become one of only twelve elite criminal interdiction troopers in the state, focusing on highway interdiction. Subsequently, I assumed the role of a criminal interdiction instructor, delivering training sessions across the United States and internationally to law enforcement officers at all levels. Later, I was promoted to Highway Patrol Sergeant, where I supervised troopers engaged in traffic enforcement, crash investigation, DWI enforcement, and criminal interdiction. During my tenure at the Kleberg County Sheriff's Office, I oversaw the patrol and jail divisions, as well as the communications and CID division. This firsthand experience provided me with invaluable insights into the department's operations and reinforced the importance of a robust chain of command.

Mentorship and Leadership Development

One of my core beliefs is in the power of mentorship. I have mentored countless troopers who have gone on to become leaders within DPS, including within the esteemed ranks of the Texas Rangers. As a mentor, I take pride in guiding and supporting individuals to reach their full potential, ensuring that the next generation of law enforcement leaders is well-prepared and equipped to serve our communities. In my supervisory capacity, I served as a leader, mentor, and counselor to troopers from diverse backgrounds across the state. Guiding them to improve and excel in their careers was a source of pride, with many of my mentees ascending to supervisory positions within various divisions of DPS, including the Highway Patrol Service, Criminal Law Enforcement Division, Aircraft Section, and Texas Rangers Service.

Partnerships with Other Agencies

Collaboration and partnership with other law enforcement agencies and entities have always been central to my approach. This collaborative spirit is essential for the effective functioning of a Sheriff's Office, and I am committed to nurturing and strengthening these relationships if elected.

Integrity

Throughout my career, I have maintained unwavering integrity, adhering to the highest standards of honesty and ethics. I believe that integrity is fundamental to earning and retaining the trust of the community. My commitment to transparent and accountable leadership underscores this belief.

School Safety

Ensuring the safety of our schools is a top priority. I place a strong emphasis on developing personal relationships with school staff to gain a deeper understanding of their needs and concerns. My track record of assisting schools and school organizations demonstrates my commitment to supporting our educational institutions. These relationships are key to enhancing school safety and creating a secure environment for students and staff.
